Horizons School Provides Families with Unique Educational Opportunities

Horizons Home Study provides the opportunity for each student to be treated as a unique person with individual needs, goals and interests. Students are encouraged to learn from appropriate curriculum materials as well as through interacting with the world around them. Our program is based on a commitment to supporting a wide range of learning and teaching styles.

Parents are the teachers who provide direction instruction and monitor student progress using instructional strategies that are responsive to the individual learning needs of their children. A credentialed teacher provides instructional support and educational materials. Parents and students meet regularly with their teacher/advisor to discuss upcoming events, review previous work and engage in collaborative planning.

Horizons is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Horizons Home Study provides a K-8 alternative instructional program within the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. High School students who meet the graduation requirements earn a California State High School Diploma.
