Please note that as of Fall 2017, we will not be accepting new high school students in Horizons School: Home Study.  For students in grades 9-12 - please go to Horizons School: Center for Independent Study (CIS) horizonscis.com .  If you have questions, please make an appointment with our principal.

State Standards

State Curriculum Standards for grades K-12 are available from the California Department of Education website at 


Teacher-Advisors assist families in tailoring instruction to individual skills, interests, and styles. Quite often, students go above and beyond grade-level standards!

Common Core strategies are tried and true strategies in the Home Study setting, as is cross-curricular and regular "extension" learning.
